Universal Transitional Kindergarten (UTK)
Transitional kindergarten is the first year of a two-year kindergarten program that uses a modified kindergarten curriculum that is age and developmentally appropriate. Transitional kindergarten is the program placement for TK age- eligible students who turn 5 by September 2 of the current year. This developmental program acts as a bridge between the preschool environment and the more structured setting of Kindergarten. It gives children the opportunity to access State Kindergarten Curriculum Standards in a classroom setting that provides an enhanced language experience and implements small group instruction and hands-on learning.
Transitional Kindergarten prepares students for the social and academic expectations for the following year’s entry into traditional Kindergarten. It gives children the gift of a high quality early learning experience.
Hours are 8:05 a.m. - 2:29 p.m. daily.
